Commercial Law

Commercial Law is the body of law that governs commercial activity in a given area. It involves the regulation of activity undertaken in connection with commercial activities, including sales, production, marketing, research and development, consumption, transfer, and ownership. Toronto commercial law is primarily found in the Toronto local courts, but it also has some additional obligations imposed by state and federal jurisdictions. These are governed by the International Labor Organization and the World Trade Organization. The latter two bodies have set down rules and guidelines for international commercial law.

The main function of commercial law is to protect the interests of entrepreneurs and small business owners. It aims to provide stability by providing appropriate infrastructure, protection, consumer protection and environmental protection to the small and medium scale businesses in an area. This law also takes into consideration issues like property, intellectual property rights, taxes, tariffs, and licensing. These aspects have an impact on the operation of the small-scale business in the area. There are several regulations pertaining to commercial law that have been formulated in the Toronto area, such as the Office of the Superintendent of Corporate Activities, which is accountable for the development of corporate policies and ensuring that they comply with the law.
