One Toronto company hopes to do both. The owners say they will open distribution facilities in Toronto and in five other cities across Canada this summer. So, why is there a need to get around the law? The answer is obvious: they want to legally obtain marijuana in order to distribute it.
The distribution sites are being established in anticipation of the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on Canada's medically-prescribed cannabis laws. The answer is not obvious to most people. The law makes it illegal to use the drug unless you have a valid prescription from a licensed doctor. Only doctors can recommend that patients use medical marijuana. Therefore, distribution channels were clearly needed to help patients find alternatives to the illegal drug.
